I ended up with a Plot Hound due to a local rescue (DNA results). He wasn't even offered for adoption, just donation in Minnesota. He was moved up here from the South. I have had 12 large breed rescues with bad behavioral histories before and all lived their best lives with us as a family. Duke is a challenge. He is 95 lbs, can lay his head on my dining room table and will knock me off me feet and stand over me when he decides there is danger. He thinks that a lot when we are both outside which is all the time. We have three acres that border a state forest which then gives way to a national wild life preserve. We have black bears, coyote, wolves, and large cats. They cut through our yard to get to the lake. What can I do? He does it when large breed dogs who are off leash come running. I am getting older and ending up in the dirt is losing appeal quickly. Any tips would be appreciated!
